WaiWhat is Wai?
The traditional Thai greeting is the Wai.Thais put their hands together(palms pressed together) in a prayer-like fashion.
The word often spoken with the Wai as a greeting is "Sawatdee"(hello or hi),as a way to thank someone is "Khop koon"(thank you) and as an apology is "Kor toht"(sorry).In polite speech,Thai men add the particle "Krup" and women add "Kha" at the end of each sentence.
For men :
"Sawatdee Krup"
"Khop koon Krup"
"Kor toht Krup"
For women :
"Sawatdee Kha"
"Khop koon Kha"
"Kor toht Kha"
