The Similans are a group of nine small islands, 90 km northwest of Phuket, in the Andaman Sea and are rated one of the best sites for diving in the world.The water is a clear turquoise-blue and a rich marine life.The west of Similan islands is a reef zone known among divers as "Burma Banks" where you can find leopard sharks, hammerheads, bull sharks, whale sharks, lionfish, manta rays, stonefish, giant sea turtles and some strange creatures.

The Similan islands became a national marine park in the mid-1980s.This archipelago has crystal-white sand and stunning rock formations.The park stations are on Ko Miang (island 4) and Ko Similan (island 8), where you can find bungalows and restaurants.The best time to visit Similan is December to April.
